I Just Didn't See It Coming

The EU often come under some deserved stick for the rules, regulations and laws that it comes up with. However, when you have to spend your time legislating to prove your worth, occasionally you hit upon gold.

According to the Daily Telegraph, Britain's 1951 Fraudulent Mediums Act is to be repealed next month and replaced by the EU Unfair Commercial Practices Directive, which comes into force on May 26. Under the outgoing legislation, the prosecution had to prove that a medium or spiritual healer had intended to be fraudulent in order to secure a conviction. But under the new European consumer protection directive, it will be the psychic's responsibility to prove they did not mislead or coerce credulous consumers.

This reminds me of the old joke about the psychic fair that had to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances.

Note: Only UKIP members with a sense of humour may post a comment here:-

What's the difference between a psychic and a politician?

A psychic projects his mind, a politician has lost it.

Yes, very funny Paul. Pity you can't see the irony in it all. The EU not only talk bollocks where mediums are concerned, but actually run YOUR life and MINE and those of everybody in the UK by petty diktats that you and your party are utterly impotent to fight against.

Pity you don't use your energy in fighting the EU instead of making petty remarks about "UKIP members".

You've missed the point. The remark wasn't meant to be petty. It was to avoid the political diatribe that you have posted. We all know your views on the matter as we do of your party. This was a light-hearted post, highlighting one of the more ridiculous excesses of the EU. A polemic merely makes most readers roll their eyes and accuse Tories and UKIP of just banging on about Europe again.

A search party has been dispatched for his sense of humour.

Councillor Scully would be happy with the EU running our lives just so long as he too was on the gravy train along with Mandleson, Kinnock and all the other nihilists.

Nihilists, big word, know what it means?

Hillary Clinton goes to a psychic who tells her: "Prepare yourself for widowhood ... Your husband is about to die a violent death."

Mrs. Clinton takes a deep breath and replies: "Will I be acquitted?"

Nihilism. Basically an existential philosophy that denies that life has any metaphysical, moral or spiritual purpose. A bit like working at the Home Office I guess!

Some poor sod probably spent years writing that one!
